About this event
The Annual Tahoe Co-Lab is a semester long experimental research residency situated in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This program positions the Tahoe Gallery as active site of interdisciplinary experimentation and inquiry. Where artistic and scientific intersect and Lake Tahoe serves as both subject and context for investigation.
During this fall semester, the Tahoe Gallery is transformed into an experimental collaborative research residency. Artist Lawrence LaBianca from California College of the Arts and Rene Henery California Science Director at Trout Unlimited have been selected to collaboratively research, create, collaborate, and perform. This collaboration is an exploration of visual art, nature and the Tahoe Basin. The Tahoe Gallery is activated as a research space, studio, collaboration lab, and ultimately an exhibition venue. The collaborators explore the themes of place and space, of the lake and the atmosphere, of humans and nature while deeply engaging with the Tahoe basin. This space is experimental, and this program is designed to be flexible and interdisciplinary.
There are two iterations of this collaboration. First the collaborators visit campus and collectively research and brainstorm for their shared exhibition. The gallery is activated as a studio, lab and research space. Then during their second visit to campus, the final exhibition is installed in the gallery and there is a collaborative lecture. Please join us Nov 13 th at 5pm for that lecture! We hope to see you there!
