- ➤ Today at Scheels at Legends mall in Sparks, the 2 News Nevada crew welcomes shoppers to donate to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Team members ring bells and engage the community — a local effort supporting programs that help people in Northern Nevada. 2NEWS
- ➤ Teen Mike built a close bond with his mentor Allison Gorelick through Washoe County’s Be the FAM program, which supports youth aging out of foster care with mentoring and air hockey challenges; mentors meet at least three hours a month to build lasting friendships. KUNR
- ➤ The VA Sierra Nevada Health System hosted an outreach event (yesterday) to help unsheltered veterans secure housing. The event linked veterans with available support services. 2NEWS

- ➤ Tribal officials and community members on the Walker River Paiute reservation broke ground on a closed-circuit water system that will boost housing and local economic opportunities over 32,000 acres. The project, developed after a decade of planning and federal funding support, will add 35 new homes. KUNR

- ➤ Sparks faces a housing crunch as federal land limits affordable development and officials review proposals aimed at freeing up land—an approach modeled on a 1998 law to boost growth and help meet rising demand. KUNR
