  • Food Bank of Northern Nevada hosted special distributions on Saturday in Fallon, Gardnerville, and Sparks to help locals still recovering after the government shutdown—community members have faced slow rebound despite the shutdown ending. The organization, which served over 160,000 people monthly before, now has 1.4 million pounds of food on order to meet ongoing needs.  KRNV
  • The Salvation Army is hosting a turkey drop-off in Reno for families in need + the event will provide turkeys to support holiday meals.  2NEWS
  • One of Reno's most popular neighborhood parks has been upgraded, with improvements completed on November 15th—adding new features for local residents. The upgrade marks a continued effort to enhance community spaces in the city.  2NEWS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Nevada, Reno updated its tailgate policy ahead of Saturday's Wolf Pack football game by allowing stages shorter than three feet if set up by 8 a.m.—and by limiting DJs to one set with music ending at kickoff while requiring tailgate areas to be cleaned by 8 p.m. Sunday. University Police began enforcing the new rules on November 15 to manage traffic and secure emergency access.  2NEWS

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nevada Football won 55 to 10 at home against San José State, improving their record to 2-8 and ending a seven-game losing streak. They will travel to Laramie to face Wyoming on November 22 at 11 a.m.—the team hopes the victory will boost their season.  2NEWS
