BUSINESS NEWS

  • Workers at Reno-Tahoe International Airport have been working without pay—airport officials have asked the community to donate to local nonprofits. The unpaid work situation has raised concerns among staff while leaders seek help for local causes.  2NEWS
  • NV Energy reports that over 1,300 customers near Spanish Springs are without power—repair crews are working to restore service.  2NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Nevada State Museum is exhibiting Native art to celebrate ten years of support for indigenous artists— the exhibit will run for about a year.  2NEWS
  • On November 6th, the Farmers' Almanac announced that its 2026 issue will be its final print release (ending its online content in December) after more than 200 years of weather forecasts. Its last winter prediction for Nevada shows average temperatures and wet snow, with colder spells in mid-January and mid-February (and heavier rain arriving in mid-November).  Reno Gazette Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A report from the American Lung Association found Reno's air quality worsened by diesel exhaust, wildcard smoke, and dust from construction while Northern Nevada Public Health began issuing advisories in Spanish to warn residents. New solar energy bills and support from the Nevada Clean Energy Fund are set to bring cleaner energy options and help low-income neighborhoods improve air quality.  KUNR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Reno City Councilman Devon Reese said NDOT will widen I‑80 from Vista Boulevard to USA Parkway using a $250 million federal grant to ease traffic along one of the busiest corridors. The Regional Transportation Commission is studying a new roadway through Sparks and proposed exploring commuter rail service between downtown Reno and TRIC—plans to be discussed at an RTC meeting in December.  KRNV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Deputies and staff in Washoe County donated blood as part of a drive to save lives — the effort helped local hospitals secure needed supplies for patients.  2NEWS
  • Reno residents are seeing more rats as mild winters and extra fruit drive the creatures indoors — pest control companies report a 50% rise in calls while experts warn that disturbed droppings can spread disease.  KRNV
  • Free flu shots will be offered Saturday at the Northern Nevada Public Health Clinic on East 9th Street.  2NEWS

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Home prices in the region increased by more than three percent across several counties.  2NEWS
  • Developers resolved environmental issues to restart the Downtown Damonte project in South Reno—spanning 30 acres near Damonte Ranch and Steamboat Parkways and set to include offices, restaurants, retail, housing, and townhomes. Construction is underway with vertical work expected by summer.  KRNV
  • The Nevada State Apartment Association said Reno's apartment market stayed strong in the third quarter as average rents climbed to $1,728 and occupancy reached 90.5% amid plans for 1,205 new apartments mostly under construction downtown, in North Valleys, Sparks and near the airport.  2NEWS
  • Yesterday, as temperatures dropped, local experts advised residents to winterize their homes—by checking insulation and sealing windows and doors—before winter sets in.  2NEWS
