- ➤ At the Nevada Air National Guard Base in Reno, Silver Belle — a 53-foot red fir from the Carson Ranger District harvested on Oct. 24 — is set to begin her 3,700-mile journey on a custom truck-trailer. More than 10,000 ornaments made by Nevadans will adorn her as she makes stops in local communities before she is displayed on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol for the holiday season. KUNR

- ➤ Washoe County unveiled a new avalanche safety sign at 1002 Jennifer Street in Incline Village on Wednesday to boost safety in Tahoe's only urban avalanche zone. County officials partnered with expert agencies to design a system that aims to prevent avalanches triggered by backcountry recreation. 2NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, Oct. 31, government offices and many public facilities in Reno will close for Nevada Day while select banks and services remain open. The Nevada Day Parade will take place on Nov. 1 in Carson City with a hot air balloon launch at 8 a.m.—setting the stage for mining events and a beard contest later that day. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Starting next month, Sparks Boulevard from Springland Drive to Baring Boulevard will operate with one lane per direction until January as construction upgrades safety, capacity, and multi-path access—drivers should prepare for detours and delays while business access remains maintained and the $86 million project finishes by 2027. 2NEWS
- ➤ The City of Reno has deployed six street sweepers and one large vacuum trailer on scheduled monthly routes to clean fallen leaves from the streets. The city reminds residents that it is illegal to blow leaves into the street—residents are urged to bag their leaves, move vehicles on sweeping days, and keep a safe distance from operating equipment. 2NEWS
