- ➤ The Reno-Sparks CROP Hunger Walk raised funds for nonprofits including Eddy House, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, and Ridge House while honoring Larry Hansmeier—a former preacher with Sparks Methodist Church who died in July. Participants walked a route along Pyramid Way, Greenbrae Drive, Rock Boulevard, and Oddie Boulevard—carrying signs that read 'I walk for Larry' to pay tribute to his legacy. 2NEWS
- ➤ Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary will host its annual Harvest Festival on October 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—families can enjoy seasonal activities and see the animals receive jack-o’-lantern pumpkin treats—and tickets are available at the Visitor Center or online for $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $16 for kids ages 3 to 12. 2NEWS
- ➤ Reno-Tahoe has a busy week ahead with Nevada homecoming sports, concerts, theater shows like and Juliet, and family events including a 5K and festivals from Oct.20 to Oct.26—weather will shift from warm and sunny earlier in the week to chilly and rainy over the weekend—so residents should plan ahead. - ➤ Community members participated in the Reno CROP Hunger Walk on October 19th—starting and ending at Sparks Methodist Church—to support local nonprofits and honor the memory of preacher Rita Jeffres. 2NEWS

- ➤ High school students and their families attended a college fair where dozens of colleges and universities had admissions representatives on hand—organizers said the event offered a chance to learn more about college options. 2NEWS

- ➤ Secretary of War Pete Hegseth visited Naval Air Station Fallon last Sunday to join TOPGUN pilots and Gen. Dan Caine for an F-16 demonstration flight celebrating the Navy's 250th birthday. His video captured an excited call of "TURN AND BURN!" and teased that extended cockpit footage will be coming soon. KRNV

- ➤ The Tahoe Knight Monsters dropped their final opening weekend game to the Idaho Steelheads with a 6 to 5 loss, as the Steelheads scored key late goals. The team will play the Tulsa Oilers on October 24 — they will return home on November 20 to face the Savannah Ghost Pirates. 2NEWS
