- ➤ NV Energy and the University of Nevada, Reno have announced a plan to add 53 wildfire cameras across the state by the end of 2026—35 in Northern Nevada, 15 in Southern Nevada, and three mobile cameras to help first responders see fires sooner. 2NEWS
- ➤ Officers responded to a bear sighting at Harvest at Damonte Ranch in Reno on October 16th and worked with the Nevada Department of Wildlife to monitor the animal as it did not appear aggressive—residents were advised to remain indoors until the animal was safely contained. KRNV
- ➤ Federal officials canceled the Bureau of Land Management’s environmental review for the Esmeralda 7 solar project — a plan for seven solar farms over 185 square miles of southern Nevada desert — the day before today.
