  • City of Reno firefighters and police are inviting residents to join the Battle for the Paddle charity pickleball tournament at the Reno Sparks Convention Center Hall 2 on October 18th to raise funds for the Justin Hope Foundation. The event requires a $20 donation to play and offers friendly competition for local community members—providing a fun way to support a good cause.  2NEWS
  • Incline Village will host its first-ever Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Village Center — the free event will include a scarecrow walk for kids, live music by Jacked Up Tahoe, food from Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant, and seasonal wine specials from Glasses Wine Bar.  KUNR

  • A government shutdown forced the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe to furlough many employees — several departments closed their offices.  2NEWS
  • Douglas County offered flood assistance on Oct 2 by providing free debris removal drop boxes to help residents clear storm debris. Officials said residents could request the boxes as needed.  2NEWS
  • The Washoe County Library Board is holding off on staffing cutback decisions as the library grapples with shortages after voters turned down a funding measure — officials plan to review options in the coming days.  2NEWS
