- ➤ Family-run Sage Leaf will open a new restaurant in Midtown Reno this fall at the former Laughing Planet location—promising contemporary American dishes, a cozy dining setting, and plans for live jazz on the patio. - ➤ Adam Mayberry hosted his campaign kickoff and fundraiser event Thursday night to launch his bid for Sparks City Council Ward 4—he aimed to build support among local voters ahead of the election. 2NEWS
- ➤ Sparks is set to open its first new fire station in 20 years to serve its growing community. Fire Station 6—located on Scheidbar Road near Pyramid Way—will have a larger crew with an integrated dispatch system and is scheduled to open in October. KRNV
- ➤ Nevada historian Guy Rocha, who served as State Archivist from 1981 to 2009 and as interim State Librarian in 2007, died, the Washoe County coroner said. He taught in the Washoe County School District and at Western Nevada Community College and helped establish Nevada Day as the official state celebration on the last Friday before the last Saturday in October. 2NEWS
