- ➤ Eddy House opened a new transitional living community in Reno with (36) studio apartments for young people (18 to 24) who initially pay a low fee for rent. 2NEWS
- ➤ Reno residents can shred personal documents for free from their cars at Secure Your ID Day on October 11 at the Atlantis Casino Resort west parking lot. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or until trucks fill up—attendees may also bring food donations for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. 2NEWS

- ➤ NV Energy announced refunds for over 60,000 customers who were overcharged after a review on September 18—refunds will begin processing soon. 2NEWS

- ➤ The Washoe County School District's Zoning Advisory Committee met Thursday and approved option 1A for 2027-2028 enrollment zones—which does not change middle or high school areas—and set plans to talk about 2028-2029 changes later. The approved plan now moves to the Board of Trustees for final decision. 2NEWS

- ➤ Washoe County invites the public to share input on opioid response plans at a community meeting scheduled for September 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Public Health Conference Room—located at 1001 E. Ninth St. in Reno. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Washoe County School District's Zoning Advisory Committee met today to review enrollment zone adjustments for multiple schools for the 2027-2028 school year, approving option 1A without changing middle or high school boundaries. The approved plan will be sent to the School Board of Trustees for final review — further discussion on the 2028-2029 proposal will be held later. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Public Utilities Commission approved NV Energy’s new rate design—scrapping over a third of a $224 million request, adding daily peak demand charges for southern ratepayers and revising net metering for northern rooftop solar customers—with exact cost details to be set by Oct 1.
