- ➤ A Reno nonprofit partnered with Wells Fargo to renovate the backyard for local seniors on September 17—creating an improved outdoor space for them. 2NEWS
- ➤ RTC and the City of Reno hosted a pop-up on September 17 to gather local feedback on the Biggest Little Bike Network project— the project remains in the design stages and the team plans to use the input for future improvements. 2NEWS

- ➤ Guy Fieri visited Lee’s Discount Liquor in north Reno on Tuesday, September 15 to promote his Santo tequila line—240 bottles sold out in 15 minutes as fans lined up both inside and outside the store. Local fans gathered early to receive signed bottles and show their support for the TV star. Reno Gazette Journal

- ➤ New net metering rules will affect solar users in Nevada next month. 2NEWS
- ➤ NV Energy said it will use a new 15-minute system for reading solar energy for new customers in Northern Nevada starting October 1 — current customers will keep their monthly netting. The company will also add a demand charge for Southern Nevada in April that bills based on peak use between 6 and 9 p.m. — this change may slightly raise bills. 2NEWS

- ➤ Yesterday, the Desert Research Institute held a grand opening for its new STEM CoLab—offering a modern space for hands-on science and technology projects. 2NEWS

- ➤ Nevada cancer advocates from Reno and Las Vegas are in Washington urging Congress to boost lifesaving research and expand access to early cancer detection ahead of the Sept. 30 budget deadline. Attorney Sean McCoy said his push is personal after losing his mother to lung cancer—he and other volunteers met with most of the state’s congressional delegation. KUNR
