- ➤ Residents cleaning up their yards can drop off green waste for free at Fire Station 11—located at 7105 Mae Anne Avenue—from Sept. 19 to 22. The Reno Fire Department is hosting the event to help with proper yard debris disposal. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is seeking volunteers to join its search and rescue team — six units that work with over 400 helpers to support community safety. Interested residents can contact the office for more information on how to help. 2NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Joe Lombardo said 90% of state websites are back online after last month's cyberattack, yet the Medicaid and SNAP portal and the gun background check system remain offline as of September 12—residents must visit offices or call for assistance while gun dealers cannot legally process sales until the issue is resolved. - ➤ Reno City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance allowing ADUs—often called granny flats—to be built in single-family zones to help address affordable housing. The proposal will get a second reading on Sept. 24 as council members review standards like lot size, height limits and rental rules. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ RTC and the City of Reno are asking for local input on the final design of the Biggest Little Bike Network Project at three pop-up events—one event is scheduled tomorrow at Riverside Farmers Market at Idlewild Park while other sessions are planned for September 16th and 17th. The network will add protected bike lanes and improved intersections along four downtown corridors and is in the design phase with construction planned for 2026; community members who cannot attend in person can review project materials and give feedback online. 2NEWS
