Ron Smith, the longtime voice behind the Great Reno Balloon Race, will announce the event today at Rancho San Rafael where over 150,000 spectators are expected for the 45th anniversary race.
He credits his early morning coffee ritual for keeping him sharp for the festivities.

NV Energy will start work on a new natural gas main along Peckham Lane on September 14 between Smithridge Drive + Longley Lane, with additional work on Nutmeg Place at Alpine Vista Condominiums.
Drivers should plan for temporary delays as the project will continue through spring.
NV Energy issued a PSOM Watch ahead of high winds Saturday and said it might de-energize power in affected areas to prevent hazards; residents should prepare for possible outages.
