  • The Buddy Walk took place on September 6 in Reno to support people with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities—participants joined to show solidarity.  2NEWS

  • A crew spotted smoke near Hug High School in north Reno around 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning—officials have not yet released further details.  2NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Great Reno Balloon Race announced it will expand from three to four days starting in 2026 following two years of successful media day previews—organizers said the new schedule will add programs like the Super Glow Show, Dawn Patrol and a Cloud 9 VIP area to attract more visitors at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.  KRNV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The R-14 Buffalo Fire, which burned 1,286 acres about 20 miles northwest of Gerlach, was fully contained yesterday after crews worked to secure the east side and protect historic buildings. Additional hand crews will work on the north side today—ensuring the area remains safe.  2NEWS

  • On September 6th, Los Angeles airport said it began modernizing its facilities with plans to add letters in its new design—Reno-Tahoe airport is also continuing its modernization process.  2NEWS
  • Nevada Day officials launched a new website that makes it easier for people to apply—applications will soon close to secure participation.  2NEWS
