- ➤ Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time in less than a year on Aug. 29—its parent company said more work was needed to restructure debt and adjust fleet size. The move may lead to fewer flights in Reno where the airline currently offers a nonstop service to Las Vegas. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Residence Inn by Marriott Reno South opened today at 13105 S. Virginia St near the Tamarack Casino and Shayden Summit mall in south Reno; it is owned by the Carano and Pegram families and managed with Azul Hospitality. The hotel offers 128 extended-stay rooms with kitchenettes, free breakfast, and amenities (including a fitness center and laundry service) for both long-term guests and business travelers.
