- ➤ Donner Party Park hosted a Love Your Block event on Saturday where nearly 100 free birdhouses were built and painted to help local birds—some remain in the park while others will be donated to Donner Springs Elementary School. - ➤ The Reno Police Department said a sworn officer unexpectedly passed away on the 6100 block of Lakeside Drive on August 22 at about 8:15 p.m.—the department said there is no public danger. KRNV

- ➤ The Nevada Employee Savings Trust—NEST—launched July 1 to help workers without a retirement plan by automatically enrolling them in an Individual Retirement Account, with about 20,500 people enrolled so far. Businesses with six or more employees must enroll their staff or offer their own plan by Sept. 1, and participants can use the account for emergencies with low annual fees. Reno Gazette Journal
