- ➤ Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue said the Rancho Fire north of Cold Springs was 25% contained on about 1,400 acres after metal grinding sparked the blaze and triggered evacuations that were later lifted while firefighters worked to secure control lines despite gusty winds. 2NEWS

- ➤ Malaya, once a pop-up tent selling only a tapa sandwich, is now a food truck and regular vendor at Reno’s year-round farmer’s market—owned by Filipino couple Aren and Therese Reynormal who serve traditional dishes like lumpia, adobo, and tapsilog as they work toward opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the future. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Washoe County Sheriff's Office fined 12 people this weekend for illegally shooting targets near Golden Eagle Regional Park in Sparks—deputies said the groups violated safety rules in a restricted area where shooting near homes and kids is dangerous. KRNV
- ➤ Reno police arrested suspect Maria Rangel-Martinez on August 16 in connection with the January 23 shooting at El Tavern Motel that left 38-year-old Anthony Jimenez dead, and she faces charges of murder with a deadly weapon+residential burglary as the investigation continues. KRNV

- ➤ Reno-Tahoe hosts the final shows of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival on Aug. 19, 20, 22 and 23 while many music, food and art events are set up throughout the week. - ➤ Tickets for this year's Dragon Lights Festival went on sale online on Monday—this event is set to run nightly from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Rancho San Rafael Park from September 26 through November 30.
