A second crash occurred Thursday morning on southbound South Virginia Street at South Hills Drive—near the scene of an earlier crash—when a Nissan rear-ended a pickup truck that then hit a Corolla; the Nissan driver sustained minor injuries.

Body camera footage released on August 14 shows Reno police exchanging gunfire with suspect Dakota Hawver near a parking lot where he fired at officers before hiding behind a truck—six victims were shot with three killed and three treated—while the six officers involved remain on administrative leave pending investigation.

A wildfire in the Rancho Haven area has spread to 130 acres today and forced evacuations from nearby homes along Chuckwagon Road—firefighters are using an air attack and ground crews to keep the blaze away from buildings.

Authorities in joint command advise residents to avoid the area.

NV Energy said that more than 2000 customers in Washoe County remain without power, including nearly 1800 in east Reno 89502, after an outage that began at 11:52 a.m. on Thursday—restoration is pending as investigators work to determine the cause.
