ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multi-car crash on I-580 south near Second Street slowed traffic during the morning commute yesterday — troopers reported three cars were involved, minor injuries occurred, and crews closed a section of the roadway for cleanup.  2NEWS
  • A semi-truck went off the road near the Nevada border, causing the #2 lane of eastbound I-80 to close—crews are recovering the vehicle while drivers are urged to slow down.  2NEWS

CRIME NEWS

  • Washoe County Sheriff's Office warned residents that thefts from unsecured mailboxes are on the rise and advised them to use secure USPS drop boxes—especially for outgoing checks—and to promptly collect mail and report any suspicious activity.  2NEWS
  • Reno Police have released body cam video from last month’s mass shooting at Grand Sierra Resort that shows officers arriving as the suspect fired his gun—Sparks Police lead the investigation and say the motive remains unknown.  2NEWS

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new ranking shows Nevada ranked fourth among high roller states with residents spending nearly $6,190 per person in casinos. The list considered factors like billionaire count, private jet departures and luxury car registrations, placing Nevada just behind California, New York and Florida.  Reno Gazette Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • REMSA Health has received a conditional $3.25 million pledge from the William N. Pennington Foundation to fund a new Airbus H-125 B3E helicopter for emergency care in Gardnerville—community donations are needed to match the pledge. The aircraft will replace an older model and, if fully funded, will begin service in late 2026—REMSA Health will also repurpose its 2012 helicopter for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office for public safety.  2NEWS
