- ➤ On August 2, actor Jeremy Renner donated a new fire engine to the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada Benevolent Association. The engine will be refurbished and named The Renner to honor 89 Nevadan firefighters who died on duty. 2NEWS

- ➤ A wildfire burned 25 acres near Cold Springs on Saturday, causing evacuations near U.S. 395 and Red Rock Road—Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue and ground crews worked with aircraft as the North Valleys Library served as a temporary evacuation point. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Before 10 p.m. on August 1st, Reno Police, Fire and REMSA responded to a motorcycle crash on South McCarran between Skyline Boulevard and Caughlin Parkway— the rider was taken to a nearby hospital but died shortly after arriving. 2NEWS

- ➤ Today, heavy smoke fills the air near Cold Springs as a wildfire burns in the area of 395 and White Lake Parkway (evacuation orders are in effect on the south side of U.S. 395) (a temporary point is set up at North Valleys Library) and officials urge all residents to evacuate immediately. 2NEWS

- ➤ The FDA announced that boxes of Member’s Mark Freeze-Dried Fruit Variety Pack sold at Sam’s Club were recalled due to possible listeria contamination—Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions discovered the risk during internal testing, and no illnesses have been reported. Customers with the recalled boxes, distributed from July 1 to July 25 in Nevada and other states, should discard them and return to the store for a refund. Reno Gazette Journal
