ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A heavy storm has caused flash flooding at the Arlington Avenue Bridges construction site, and crews (working to drain the water) are actively trying to restore progress.  2NEWS

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dave and Buster's opened a new location at the Shayden Summit mall in south Reno on Monday, July 28th. The facility offers more than 120 arcade games, two game suites, and a sports bar with a 40 foot screen—the first 100 guests received free game play for the day.  2NEWS

CRIME NEWS

  • Monday morning, several people were injured in a shooting outside Grand Sierra Resort in Reno — police arrived within three minutes, shot a suspect, and took him to a hospital — and the resort’s northwest valet remained closed with no ongoing threat reported.  Reno Gazette Journal
  • Six of the seven adult Reno High students pleaded not guilty to gross misdemeanor vandalism charges after ransacking the school on May 22—one student has not yet entered a plea and will be assigned a public defender, and all are set to return to court on Sept. 15.  Reno Gazette Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue stopped forward progress on a 15-acre fire burning in Hungry Valley off Chickadee Drive between Hungry Valley and Lemmon Valley that sparked around 2 p.m. on Saturday, and no injuries or building damage were reported.  2NEWS
  • Storms on July 27 brought heavy hail and flooding to Reno that affected UNR campus, J Resort, and St. Mary's Hospital. UNR crews are cleaning water and debris from three residence halls while food services have moved, and J Resort was evacuated after hail may have hit a water pipe.  KRNV

  • A water break on Rock Blvd. near Edison Way has closed part of the road in Reno. Reno Police posted a video of the break (there is no estimate for reopening).  2NEWS
