ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report on the June 21 accident near D.L. Bliss State Park at Lake Tahoe where the 28 feet long boat Over the Moon overturned, killing eight people and leaving two survivors who were taken to hospital — investigators have kept boat electronics and fuel filters for further tests and toxicology results for the victims are pending. 2NEWS
- ➤ The NTSB released a preliminary report on the Lake Tahoe boat capsize that killed eight on June 21 when a sudden storm produced high waves that overturned a 28-foot power boat carrying 10 passengers—only two survived by using lifejackets—as rescue efforts followed. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Firefighters rushed to a fire on Pinewood Drive at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Sparks — they quickly put out the flames in two homes with no injuries reported while Sparks Police, REMSA, and NV Energy also arrived to assist. 2NEWS

- ➤ At Bryan Kohberger’s sentencing earlier this month, a Reno college student and Reno High School graduate named Bethany Funke read a statement detailing the shock and media harassment she faced after losing her four roommates in the 2022 University of Idaho murders. Her account described waking in disbelief and struggling with daily panic as she secured her home (even double locking every door) to cope with lasting fear and grief. Reno Gazette Journal
