Good morning, Reno.

The Christmas in July Back-to-School Event will offer free backpacks with school supplies to over 1,200 students on Saturday, July 25 at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.

Families can also enjoy carnival games & resource booths from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Today, scattered thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding in the Greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area (affecting creeks, streams, urban zones and burn scars).

Residents should monitor forecasts and be ready to take action if warnings are issued.

Reno remembers Master Police Officer Lance Tindell, who served 18 years protecting the community.

City leaders noted his lasting impact and said memorial service details will be shared soon + the community is asked to support his loved ones during this loss.

More than 100 residents received free eye exams and glasses at a recent event; a flood watch remains in effect from Tuesday afternoon through the evening as thunderstorms bring heavy rainfall to parts of Reno.
