- ➤ The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help identify a suspect in a porch pirate theft at a home near Wedge Parkway and Whites Creek Lane in South Reno last month—home surveillance footage shows the suspect taking a package and fleeing on foot while Secret Witness offers a $250 reward for tips. - ➤ A UC Davis report from July 18 showed Lake Tahoe got warmer and rainier, losing 27 freezing days each year and having snow make up only 30 to 40 percent of annual precipitation versus 50 percent a century ago. The study also noted rising air temperatures and stable water clarity at about 62 feet—confirming long-term changes at the lake. KUNR

Mark Amodei voted to rescind NPR and PBS funding even though he supports local public broadcasting and said he will fight to restore the money before Oct. 1—he noted that current funds will cover the rest of fiscal year 2025 while he continues to work for local broadcasters, and he defended his vote despite opposing a gaming tax provision added to the bill.
