- ➤ Truckee Bagel Company will close its Midtown Reno shop on July 12—after nearly 10 years of serving the community—but will keep serving customers at its longtime Galena store at 18130 Wedge Parkway. - ➤ On Saturday, July 5 at 1:30 p.m., CHP reported that a biker named Tim linked to the Silver Barons Motorcycle Club in Virginia City fled the scene near the Sierraville Service & County Store after a fight led to a motorcycle crash that left his female passenger unconscious and critically injured—she was flown to a Reno hospital and he was last seen with five other riders. 2NEWS

- ➤ Driver’s Edge returns to Reno with free, hands-on driving training for teens from July 24 through 27 at the Regional Public Safety Training Center at 5190 Spectrum Blvd—participants learn skills like skid control and evasive maneuvers, and parents are urged to register quickly due to added spaces. This training is funded in part by a Nevada Office of Traffic Safety grant and supported by local law enforcement. 2NEWS

- ➤ Reno city officials plan to potentially lay off eight employees to help close a $25 million gap in the FY27 General Fund budget—this measure does not affect public safety roles—and the city council will vote on the move on July 23. The affected employees were given full-pay administrative leave on July 7 and will work until their final day on September 4. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Truckee Meadows Water Authority released its annual water quality report Tuesday, showing that tests for volatiles, inorganics, synthetics, lead, copper, and chlorine all remained far below EPA limits and ensured clean water for over 475,000 residents. Director Raymond explained that the 169-mile service area draws about 85% of its water from the Truckee River — with the balance coming from underground wells. KRNV
- ➤ On Tuesday, the City of Reno held its first workshop to gather community ideas for an updated strategic plan that focuses on fiscal sustainability, public safety and community development.
