- ➤ The Domestic Violence Resource Center moved its services to a temporary location (1301 Cordone Ave, Suite 180) as its Vassar Street facility is prepared for demolition. Its emergency help remains available through a 24-hour hotline, and donations continue to be accepted during the transition until 2027. KRNV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Conner Fire burned 13,901 acres as strong 45 mph winds drove fast spread that prompted evacuations from Pine View Estates and led to the closure of the Douglas County Community and Senior Center evacuation site—officials said the large animal site at the Douglas County Fairgrounds stayed open while 489 responders struggled with the blaze. 2NEWS

- ➤ Nevada's unemployment rate fell to 5.5 percent in May as the state added 500 jobs and the labor force grew by 3,484 people. Reno gained 200 jobs since April — a small part of the state's steady job growth — according to the May economic report. 2NEWS

- ➤ Kace, a service dog trained to comfort victims and witnesses, is joining the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office to support court proceedings. - ➤ Washoe County officials and parks advocates are pushing for a new parks district to build better parks, trails and open spaces in Reno, Sparks and other areas. A joint meeting is scheduled for June 26 at 5 p.m. at City Hall — a consultant will craft the service plan to explore funding options — and leaders will decide on future actions based on the findings.
