- ➤ Residents near Lakeridge Golf Course were alarmed on May 14 when a local man in a high-visibility vest said he saw armed pest control workers using pellet guns near his home—footage later showed workers firing unevenly close to houses. - ➤ The Reno Livestock Events Center Indoor Arena will host Reno Rodeo Kids' Day on Sunday, June 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where children can enjoy cow milking, horseback rides, and the 8th Annual Mutton Bustin’ Championship — a contest for 5- to 7-year-olds that sets age and weight limits while providing western attire and safety gear. - ➤ Sparks Police in Reno are asking the community to help identify a motorcyclist who sped away from a traffic stop on June 18 at 5:10 p.m. near Springland Drive and Sparks Boulevard—officers ended the pursuit for safety reasons and describe the rider as operating a white Harley Davidson while wearing a black vest with a lime green shirt and showing multiple tattoos on his left arm, and residents with tips should contact Sparks Police. - ➤ State lawmakers passed two new laws to protect residents and outdoor workers from extreme heat and wildfire smoke.
