- ➤ The Reno Fire Department released its 2024 video report which details its response to 51,737 calls, over 100 wildland fires, new promotions, additional hires, and the purchase of equipment including two brush trucks and a state-of-the-art ambulance—underscoring its commitment to community safety. Fire Chief Dave Cochran said the report shows Reno’s firefighters are working hard to keep the community safe. KRNV

- ➤ Spirit Airlines announced it will launch nonstop flights from Reno to San Diego starting August 14—operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays—offering a seasonal travel option between two popular destinations. KRNV

- ➤ Reno Police arrested 36-year-old Jorge Trujillo-Gutierrez after investigating suspicious activity on the 3800 block of S. Virginia St that linked a gold Chevrolet Silverado to domestic violence + later officers responded to a fight on the 5000 block of Emery Dr and arrested him for kidnapping and domestic battery against a 31-year-old woman, with the victim safe and receiving help. - ➤ Yesterday, Reno Police arrested 36-year-old Breann Celaya and 36-year-old Jorge Trujillo-Gutierrez after a fight at a home near Emery Drive and Walt Street that led to the recovery of a stolen gun—Celaya faces charges for possession of a stolen gun, possession of a gun by a prohibited person, and failure to register as a convicted felon while Trujillo-Gutierrez was booked for simple battery and two outstanding warrants. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office secured prison sentences for 30-year-old Damion Banks—sentenced to 79 years with parole eligibility after 25 years for drug trafficking and gun possession—and for 45-year-old Nathaniel Harriel, who received a habitual offender sentence of 10 to 25 years with a concurrent term for selling drugs and possessing a gun following separate investigations. 2NEWS

- ➤ The governor signed Senate Bill 263 today, expanding the definition of child pornography to include sexually explicit computer-generated images involving minors. The National Weather Service in Reno issued a Fire Weather Watch for Western Nevada from Friday morning through Saturday evening—residents should follow local fire restrictions to reduce fire risks. 2NEWS
- ➤ Reno Fire Department and the Reno airport fire station began a four-day training exercise on Tuesday to practice putting out simulated plane fires and rescuing civilians using crash trucks. The exercise uses many setups and needs a three-minute response time (1500-gallon water delivery) to follow emergency rules. KUNR
