- ➤ Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks said an officer-involved shooting in 2023 at a south Reno gas station was justified after troopers confronted Darnelle Boykins who fired at officers during a chase — dash cam footage and witness accounts showed the use of deadly force and supported closing the case. - ➤ Washoe County DA Chris Hicks said a Nevada State Police trooper was justified when he shot Darnelle Boykins during a 2023 police chase—Boykins, who pleaded guilty to charges including attempted murder, received a 52-year sentence and faces additional charges with bail set at $500,000—. 2NEWS

- ➤ A new study by Dixon Resources Unlimited found that Reno lost over $2.66 million in parking fees in the past five years—nearly $1.5 million in citation fees were not collected due to inconsistent enforcement and expired vendor contracts. - ➤ On June 6, the Truckee River was redirected in downtown Reno as signs warned river floaters to disembark before reaching Wingfield Park while construction continued on the Arlington Avenue Bridges project. - ➤ Nevada will resume its cage-free egg law on June 20—eggs sold after this date must come from hens with the required space.
