- ➤ Two weeks after a break-in at Reno High on May 22 that saw masked vandals spray-paint walls and smash windows and TVs, school officials have not shared the number of students banned from the June 11 graduation ceremony—superintendent Joe Ernst said they are still gathering details—while police stated more than 20 people fled when officers arrived. - ➤ Karrell Morgan, 42, was arrested for a vehicle burglary at the Washoe County District Courthouse on June 2 and now faces charges including burglary of a motor vehicle—swindling by using another’s identification—grand larceny and unauthorized card use. KRNV

- ➤ Organizers of the 44th Great Reno Balloon Race unveiled new and returning features for the upcoming event in celebration of National Hot Air Balloon Day, including remote-controlled balloons + an expanded STEM program for Washoe County fifth graders. The race will feature special-shaped balloons and an estimated 100 ascents each morning from September 5 to 7 at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park + a media day preview on September 4. 2NEWS

- ➤ A report from the National Energy Assistance Directors Association projects that Nevada households will face higher electric bills this summer as rates rise from $699 to $740 per month because higher prices and hotter temperatures boost air conditioning demand. Low-income households will be hit hardest, with nearly 37 percent struggling to pay their bills—Congress is being urged to boost LIHEAP funding to ease the burden. Reno Gazette Journal
