ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews responded to a fire near Clear Acre Lane in Reno on Wednesday afternoon — the blaze started around 1:30 p.m. and smoke spread across the valley with no evacuations or cause reported. 2NEWS
- ➤ The NTSB reported that the Feb. 24 Care Flight crash near Stagecoach killed five when the pilot lost control due to disorientation and a missed flight risk assessment—problems that led the Pilatus PC-12 to break apart shortly after leaving Reno Tahoe International Airport bound for Salt Lake City. - ➤ Amazon filed a notice with the Nevada state and announced its Reno fulfillment center will close on Aug. 2, affecting 325 workers — the company has provided transfers to help affected staff and plans to open a new same-day delivery center in south Reno that is expected to finish in 2026. - ➤ The City of Reno will make traffic changes near the Reno Livestock Events Center to support the Reno Rodeo, which will bring more visitors. The lane reductions, one-way turns and free parking with shuttle service will start on the evening of June 15 and end early on Sunday, June 29—steps taken to ease event traffic. 2NEWS
- ➤ On June 4th, local firefighting agencies held a community wildfire panel to prepare residents for the coming fire season and to assure them that staffing and funding remain stable despite federal spending cuts—officials stressed that wildfires are hard to control and urged caution to reduce human-caused fires. - ➤ U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter in New York issued a temporary restraining order on Wednesday to block plans to shut down Sierra Nevada Job Corps in Reno — giving students and staff a reprieve as graduation was moved up — and a court hearing is set on June 17 to review the case.
