ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday night at around 11 p.m., a motorcycle and a car collided on Stead Boulevard near North Virginia Street north of Reno, and the motorcyclist died at the scene with no evidence that speed was a factor. The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Fire Weather Watch—warning of gusty winds up to 50 mph, low humidity, and isolated dry lightning from today through Sunday evening. 2NEWS

- ➤ Reno man Joseph Greco (70) was convicted today on two counts of lewdness with a child under 14 for sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl and faces a life sentence with sentencing set for July 24. 2NEWS

- ➤ Weekly House by the River events will begin in June at West Street Plaza—downtown Reno, running every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through August as Biggest Little Tribe and the City of Reno plan to offer live house music and food trucks open to the public. 2NEWS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Reno Housing Authority announced that it received nearly $450,000 in federal funding to support local housing initiatives. The National Weather Service in Reno issued a Red Flag Warning from 11 a.m. today to 11 p.m. PDT Sunday for several nearby counties — urging residents to avoid outdoor activities that could spark a fire. 2NEWS
- ➤ Senator Jacky Rosen (D) announced Friday that $447,445 in federal funds will help the Reno Housing Authority provide housing vouchers for homeless veterans. The funds come from the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program and will help veterans secure stable housing. 2NEWS
- ➤ Governor Joe Lombardo signed Senate Bill 116, a law that will change the pay structure for county commissioners and other elected officials. Under the bill, the base salary for fiscal year 2025-2026 will be set by the higher value from a calculation based on salaries from 2018 to 2019 or 3% more than the highest salary of a supervised employee as of January 1, 2025 — it will also allow for a 2% cost-of-living increase and a 3% annual raise for five years, with boards able to withhold increases if funds are low.
