  • Jacobs Entertainment announced today that Gold 'N Silver Inn on 4th Street will close its doors at the end of the day on June 1 for renovations+ the company plans to update the interior and add new menu items while keeping its classic dishes, with a reopening scheduled before the end of the year.  2NEWS

CRIME NEWS

  • Reno-based Uprise CEO Stephen Kromer faces 31 felony charges for allegedly converting over $7 million of NDOT funds from a rural fiber-optic project in Lovelock + the Attorney General’s office has requested a warrant for his arrest after the project failed and $9.1 million in public money went missing.  Reno Gazette Journal
  • A Double Diamond Elementary School custodian, Michael Vradenburg, was arrested on May 13 on a gross misdemeanor charge for allegedly terrorizing a 9-year-old student by touching her during tag and later pretending to shoot her, following a February investigation—and he is now on leave pending the case outcome.  Reno Gazette Journal
  • At 5:00 p.m. on April 23, a Reno man waiting for a taxi was attacked and robbed on Country Estates Drive by a suspect riding an electric motorbike—Reno police later arrested the suspect on May 2 on an outstanding felony warrant, and the victim sustained serious injuries including a punctured lung, facial fractures, and a brain bleed.  KRNV

  • On May 16, parcels tied to the Reno Kimpton project were sold at a trustee sale at the County Courthouse for $1 million to Court Street Ventures LLC—ending hopes for a revitalized downtown hotel development.
