ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A funeral procession near Renown Regional Medical Center on Wednesday honored Deputy Tristan Redmond who died with his family on May 13th after an off-duty motorcycle crash on May 2nd—he had served Churchill County for 4 years as a Field Training Officer.  2NEWS

CRIME NEWS

  • A 33-year-old Sparks woman was arrested late Tuesday in Storey County and faces felony charges after deputies found stolen sports memorabilia, comic books, burglary tools and other items in a hotel room—her arrest followed a December pursuit and investigation based on a warrant from Virginia Township Justice Court.  2NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Reno finished installing 45 garbage bins, 30 pet waste stations and solar lights along the Downtown Reno Riverwalk using ARPA funds, and also upgraded West Street Plaza with new outdoor furniture and murals by local artist Anthony Ortega. Additional work on painted railings and hard-wired lighting is set to complete by the end of May—events in the plaza will run through the fall.  2NEWS
  • Washoe County Emergency Management and Northern Nevada Public Health held an earthquake response training on Wednesday in north Reno—emergency workers practiced coordinated actions for a major quake on the Mt. Rose fault. Law enforcement, fire crews, utility workers and hospital staff learned how to manage building damage and patient care during the simulation.  KRNV
