  • A man died in a shooting near Silver Legacy in downtown Reno on May 1, police said, after officers arrived around 8 p.m.+ they continue to investigate the incident.  Reno Gazette Journal

  • Over 200 Spanish goats from High Desert Grazing began clearing 20 acres of vegetation above Somersett on May 1 to lower wildfire fuels during Wildfire Awareness Month—guard dogs and electric fencing secure the site while visitors watch from a safe distance and keep pets leashed.  2NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar will start an active listening tour to meet with all 28 state-recognized tribal nations to strengthen ties, boost representation and ensure access to government services. This week he will meet with Indian Affairs officials, visit the museum at Stewart Indian School and speak with Washoe tribe members — actions that follow a 36% rise in tribal voter turnout during the 2024 election.  KUNR
