- ➤ Truckee Meadows Water Authority hosts its Smart About Water Day on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the California Building (Idlewild Park) to showcase 25 years of water management, interactive science displays for children, and presentations on future purification plans. 2NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday morning, an NHP trooper rescued two adult geese and three goslings stranded on I-580 northbound near 5th Street by closing a lane + guiding them to safety. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Nevada Department of Wildlife is seeking donations to reopen its youth license fund, which has paused free hunting and fishing licenses since August 2025. Every $15 raised covers one license for youths aged 12 to 17 to enjoy outdoor time away from screens. 2NEWS

- ➤ A proposed uranium project near McDermitt is starting studies for the next 12 to 18 months + a limited drilling program is expected later this year. Eagle Nuclear Energy plans to open an office in Reno and could create hundreds of local jobs if permits are secured. KRNV

- ➤ University of Nevada, Reno is hosting Spring into Science on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Earth Month, where families can tour the Planetarium, Keck, and Natural History museums to enjoy hands-on exhibits and special displays before renovations begin in May. 2NEWS
- ➤ Driver’s Edge will return to Reno on May 16 and 17 as a free hands-on program hosted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office that helps teen drivers build critical skills in emergency avoidance, response techniques, and overall safety — register early as spots fill quickly. 2NEWS
- ➤ Bernice Mathews Elementary School STEM students built 88 birdhouses as a project and had them hung at Teglia's Paradise Park on Wednesday morning with support from city parks staff—enhancing their hands-on learning in design and math. 2NEWS

- ➤ A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook Silver Springs yesterday morning — the Nevada Seismological Laboratory reported hundreds of quakes in the past ten days and is monitoring the activity closely. 2NEWS
