- ➤ Local deputies and firefighters will join the 13th Annual Guns and Hoses Golf Tournament on April 21 at LakeRidge Golf Course to raise funds for children with cancer. Organized by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Truckee Meadows Fire Association IAFF 2487, the event has already raised $28,000—proceeds will support the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation. 2NEWS

- ➤ Today, UNR opens its state-of-the-art Nanofabrication Lab in the Davidson Foundation Cleanroom at the William N. Pennington Engineering Building to boost semiconductor education, research and industry growth. - ➤ Washoe County library director Jeff Scott resigned Wednesday night after receiving a low board evaluation amid controversies over drag queen story hours and book challenges. The library board was caught off guard by his resignation — they said they are now prepared to choose a new director to help the library system thrive. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ On Thursday morning, the Reno Fire Department took over airport fire services at Reno-Tahoe International Airport after a ceremony with local officials—Fire Chief David Cochran said the change will make emergency response faster—while the RTAA will pay the costs. The deal, approved last year by the city council and RTAA Board, gives a six-month period for final planning—final plans will be made by the end of that time. KRNV
- ➤ Travelers flying domestically after May 7 must show a Real ID or valid passport to pass TSA checks — look for a gold star on your Nevada license to see if it meets federal standards.
