- ➤ A box truck crash on I-580 near Moana Lane on April 12 left Lorraine Chavez—a 62-year-old Texas woman—dead and two children in critical condition when the truck failed to slow for traffic and hit several cars, and the Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating. KRNV

- ➤ Uline, a distributor of shipping, industrial, and packaging materials, plans to open a 286,000-square-foot warehouse on Echo Avenue—three miles northwest of its current branch—in Reno by August, which will add 25 jobs and expand its regional footprint to 1.2 million square feet. Renovations have begun this month and the company will host a hiring event on April 22 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. for day and night shift roles. 2NEWS
- ➤ The federal government is suing Greystar — operator of five Reno apartments — for adding hidden fees to advertised rents that have cost renters hundreds of millions of dollars. Greystar denied the claims and said its fee practice is standard in the industry. Reno Gazette Journal

- ➤ Firefighters found a man's body after they put out a brush fire on Monday behind 555 El Rancho Drive in Sparks — Sparks police are investigating the scene and have not determined the cause of either the fire or his death. Reno Gazette Journal

- ➤ The RTC will provide free shuttle rides to the Reno Earth Day celebration at Idlewild Park on Saturday, April 19. The shuttle service will run every 15 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.—linking Idlewild Park and the Washoe County Courthouse parking lot. 2NEWS
- ➤ The city of Reno faces a $25.6 million shortfall for fiscal year 2026 as finance director Vicki Van Buren proposed a plan that cuts $4 million in operating expenses and freezes 20 new positions—measures to be reviewed in early May before the final budget is due on June 1. The plan will also use one-time funds plus $1.4 million in savings while officials monitor the city’s debt, which totals about $472 million, and watch economic trends closely. Reno Gazette Journal
