- ➤ Sparks Police Department is hosting a book drive to collect new or gently used books for local kids at its East Prater Way location, accepting donations through the end of the month. 2NEWS
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Reno increased by one cent to $5.17 a gallon on Apr. 2, while the state average held at $4.94, according to the recent update. 2NEWS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting April 6, NDOT will replace seven aging bridges along I-80 between exits 4 and 7, from Mae Anne Avenue to Boomtown, with lane shifts and overnight one-lane operations for work zones. Drivers can expect reduced speeds and temporary detours + planned updates through spring 2028. 2NEWS
- ➤ Bruce Grego, a former South Lake Tahoe city council member with over 10 years planning experience, announced his run for Nevada’s CD2 after the incumbent opted out + he said he will visit urban and rural communities to address agency oversight and rising food costs. KUNR
- ➤ Truckee Meadows Water Authority announced that no drought reserves will be released this season (thanks to ample storage in Lake Tahoe) so river flows will remain normal. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Nevada Forum (launched Thursday, Apr. 2) is inviting public input on ways to improve state services and has received hundreds of responses. 2NEWS
- ➤ From April 6 through April 17, the southbound I-580 airport off-ramp will be closed around the clock for infrastructure work near the Reno airport + northbound Aviation Way access will be unavailable Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Drivers should use alternate routes. 2NEWS

- ➤ Walmart’s Great Value dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets were found to have dangerous lead levels in 29-ounce bags (best if used by Feb. 10), so Nevadans with the product are advised to discard or return it. Reno Gazette Journal
