- ➤ The Domestic Violence Resource Center launched its —Inside These Doors— campaign to raise funds for a new 40,000-square-foot shelter that will be Washoe County’s first purpose-built center for domestic violence support. A $12 million anonymous donation has put the campaign more than halfway to its $25 million goal with demolition beginning this summer so that construction can start in fall and the facility will open in early 2027. - ➤ On March 27, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office stopped a speeding car on Hwy 50 near Winter Parkway in the Mound House area and arrested Jimmy Keith II from Dayton for drug trafficking after a K9 officer detected over 5 ounces of meth. 2NEWS
- ➤ Sparks Police Department arrested Daniel Perez, 34, and Michelle Perez, 34, on April 1 at 2:30 p.m. at a Galleria shopping center store for shoplifting, drug possession and credit card theft — both are now booked into Washoe County Jail. KRNV
- ➤ On Monday, March 31 at 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a car driving on the wrong side of the road and found Johna Young refusing to stop until her car struck a patrol car, leading to a DUI arrest after she was medically evaluated—according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. 2NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, April 1st, Sparks police arrested Michelle Perez and Daniel Perez after they tried to escape a Galleria mall store with unpaid merchandise, and an investigation found drugs, drug paraphernalia, and stolen credit cards with Daniel facing charges for substance possession and fraud while Michelle also faced two felony warrants for nonappearance. 2NEWS

- ➤ Reno-Tahoe International Airport will launch its new parking reservation system on April 7 to let travelers book spots in the long-term garage ahead of busy times—new parking rates will take effect on Monday with garage spots costing $22 a day and surface lot spots $18, while vehicles parked before April 6 get the current rates. - ➤ USDA funding cuts of more than $8 million have forced the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to face a reduced food resource shipment—losing over three million pounds in supplies and pausing a 350,000-pound order that supports about 160,000 residents each month. Nevada lawmakers held a work session on Senate Bill 233 to allocate $800,000 for the Home Feeds Nevada Program while the food bank partners with the National Association of Letter Carriers for a Stamp out Hunger food drive in May. - ➤ Officials from NDOT provided an update on the U.S. 395 North Valleys Widening Project during a public meeting on Tuesday—aiming to ease traffic congestion for roughly 50,000 daily travelers. The project, which started in 2020, is in Phase 1B from McCarran Boulevard to Golden Valley and will widen the highway from Golden Valley to Stead next year with completion planned by 2028. KRNV
