  • Wendy Antibus of the Sierra Avalanche Center on Mount Rose said avalanche danger has risen from low to moderate as warmer weather and rain create hidden risks — subtle sounds from the snowpack may signal unstable layers that researchers say can persist during quiet weather.  KUNR
  • Junk King Reno and the Katie Grace Foundation launch a month-long donation drive every Wednesday in April at 250 Chism St. to collect items for reuse & reduce waste. Themed drop-offs include clothing, e-waste, plastics, linens, and shoes with one donor to win a free three-day dumpster.  2NEWS
  • Regional fire crews have conducted a planned prescribed burn in South Reno over the past two weeks, clearing 20 acres last week and 40 acres. They will remain onsite this weekend to mop up and monitor while advising residents to avoid Jones and Whites Creek trails because of lingering smoke.  KRNV

  • The Nevada Gaming Control Board has set new guidelines for businesses facing penny shortages after the coin's discontinuation. Licensees must round to the nearest five-cent increment or round both ways and display their rounding policies for patrons.  2NEWS

  • Reno is set to welcome its first Kendra Scott store at Suite 502 in Shayden Summit mall, where brands like Sephora and Pandora are located. SPORTS NEWS

  • The Reno Aces began their homestand on Friday, Mar. 27 and their opening games continue through Sunday, giving local fans a chance to catch live baseball at the stadium.  2NEWS
  • Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe said it is staying open to extend its spring season and expects more snow next week — its north-facing runs remain active despite some lift adjustments.   • Today at Greater Nevada Field, the Reno Aces honored the 12U Tahoe Titans with a $2,000 check + an Aces jersey during a pregame ceremony; the tribute followed a challenging February incident and shows the team's effort to support the community.  KRNV
