- ➤ USDA funding cuts have forced the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to cancel shipments of over 350,000 pounds of protein, eggs and dairy scheduled for delivery from April to August—this loss affects both the USDA program and Home Feeds Nevada. The food bank, which now serves about 160,000 people each month, will seek new sources to replace these supplies as demand grows. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ The Washoe County Open Space and Regional Parks Commission approved adding two new weekly food truck event days to northern Nevada—this includes a Thursday event at North Valleys Regional Park where local vendors will serve meals. 2NEWS

- ➤ The Washoe County medical examiner identified Tiffany C. Galvan, 51, found dead Tuesday on Catalina Drive near Meadowood Mall — her death ruled a homicide — and police arrested 52-year-old Rodrigo Inostroza Soto on an open murder charge. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Reno Police arrested two men and issued citations to six on March 27th for soliciting sex from undercover detectives during a human trafficking demand reduction operation. KRNV

- ➤ Ramadan will end on March 29 evening—bringing a close to a month of fasting, prayer and good deeds—and Eid al-Fitr will be observed on March 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1855 Oddie Blvd. Sherif Elfass of the Northern Nevada Muslim Community explained that the holiday celebrates this spiritual retreat and welcomes non-Muslims to join the festivities. - ➤ The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation released its February 2025 economic report which showed nonfarm employment reached 1,572,200—an annual increase of 0.4% as the state added 3,318 jobs while keeping unemployment at 5.8%. Employment in Reno grew by 4,100 jobs since February and by 500 jobs since January, the report said. 2NEWS

- ➤ The California Tahoe Conservancy Board approved two planning grants totaling $590,000 for upgrades at Regan Beach in South Lake Tahoe and an environmental review at Secline Beach in Kings Beach, with improvements scheduled for construction between 2027 and 2028. The board also approved acquiring a parcel at the entrance to Van Sickle Park to protect local wildlife and water quality. KUNR
