- ➤ Northern Nevada law enforcement and the public will gather at the Reno Town Mall on April 2 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the ninth annual Symposium on Community and Policing — focused on public safety, scam prevention, immigration, and building trust — with food available for purchase and Spanish-language assistance provided. 2NEWS

- ➤ Reno Police say the missing and endangered man John Long—who faces serious medical issues—has been found and is now safe with his family. 2NEWS
- ➤ The University of Nevada, Reno is warning today about a scam in which groups calling themselves LionHeart Family Institute — Healthlion Medical Solutions — and Trinity Research falsely claim a tie to UNR to trick people into investing thousands of dollars with promises of reimbursement after six months. The University urged anyone contacted to verify research requests and report suspicious calls to local law enforcement. 2NEWS

- ➤ A new analysis found that spring temperatures have risen across the U.S. and that Reno warmed nearly 7 degrees since 1970 — the biggest rise in the nation. The warmer spring shrank water supplies and increased wildfire risk — experts said. KUNR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Reno updated adult rec sports fees as it faces a budget shortfall from lower revenues and rising costs—new rates starting in Summer will add less than $1 per player per game. 2NEWS
- ➤ Carson Tahoe Health System settled allegations over four PPP loans by agreeing to pay $8,876,475.45 after a whistleblower filed a suit under the False Claims Act, returning millions of taxpayer dollars to the government. U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith announced the settlement on March 24th. KRNV
- ➤ The Bureau of Indian Affairs announced it is using forensic technology—through its initiative Operation Spirit Return—to help solve missing and murdered Indigenous Persons cases. The agency works with the Texas company Othram on genetic genealogy and is investigating 15 cases across tribal lands including in Nevada. KUNR
- ➤ Reno City Council will vote on March 26 to decide if the city will change a 14-year-old policy that sets expiration dates for sewer credits used as redevelopment incentives. City officials say the change is expected to speed up housing projects — including a downtown plan for 300 apartments—by letting developers use credits with no time limit. KUNR
