- ➤ The City of Reno will host its annual Biggest Little Spring Cleaning event on Saturday, Mar. 21 to help residents dispose of bulky waste like furniture and yard debris (hazardous items are turned away) for a clutter-free start. More events run through May. 2NEWS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State officials have urged SNAP recipients to meet the 20-hour weekly work requirement by May 1 or lose benefits, saying a job, volunteering, or education (including vocational training) can help. Nearly 43,000 able-bodied adults have received a waiver, with Mineral County and tribal reservations remaining exempt. KUNR
- ➤ The Nevada Department of Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) says federal employees furloughed during the partial shutdown may soon qualify for unemployment benefits. Affected workers should review DETR guidelines to confirm their eligibility. 2NEWS
- ➤ Blogger Michael Leonard challenged Reno mayor candidate Eddie Lorton’s temporary protection order on March 12 — saying the 'Breaking Bad' meme he texted on Feb. 20 was a pop culture reference, not a threat.
