- ➤ Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is urging community members to donate 1,400 Easter baskets with age-appropriate items to help children in Washoe County enjoy the season (drop-offs are at St. Vincent’s Thrift Store in Reno and a Sparks location till Monday, March 23 with basket distribution on Monday, March 30). 2NEWS
- ➤ She Means Business Foundation will hold its 'Designed to Lead: Blueprints, Break Throughs, and Bold Leadership' speaker series tonight at the discovery museum in downtown Reno, where four women in STEM, construction, architecture, and professional services will share how they broke barriers to start their businesses. 2NEWS

- ➤ Gas prices in northern Nevada jumped from $3.99 to $4.09 in days as conflict in the Middle East pushed shipping routes around the Strait of Hormuz to become longer and costlier. Local experts warn that higher oil costs will likely drive pump prices up even more. KRNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Reno Fire Department announced a new wildfire preparedness plan that will install dumpsters across Washoe County — helping residents dispose of vegetation to create defensible space. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Reno Fire Department’s Water Entry Team trains monthly on the Truckee River to prepare for its average 50 to 60 water rescues a year (training started in February) and focuses on updating skills as flows change. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Nevada Department of Transportation is accepting applications for 40 paid summer internships in Reno, Carson City, Elko, Winnemucca and Las Vegas. The program runs May through August, offers up to $24 per hour, and is open to high school graduates enrolled in college (providing hands-on training in civil and environmental engineering). 2NEWS

- ➤ Community Health Alliance will offer mobile dental clinics for patients ages 0 to 20 at the Sun Valley Health Center on March 12 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and April 9 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are welcome. KRNV
