- ➤ Employees at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (partnered with Desert Research Institute) are learning drone flying and coding skills today to prepare them for sharing STEM lessons. The training will help staff pass on new career skills as the drone industry expands in the Mountain West. KUNR
- ➤ A national report by the Lumina Foundation shows just 44.7% of Nevada adults hold a credential beyond high school and only 36% of workers earn at or above the national median — state education officials are boosting CTE programs to help more adults finish credentials and improve job prospects. - ➤ Skywatchers in Reno can see a total lunar eclipse today as the moon glows red during totality from 3:04 a.m. to 4:02 a.m. Residents are advised to find an open area free from city lights for the best view & safety. KRNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Reno officials are tackling a housing shortage as nearly 15,500 new units and more than 10,000 rehabilitations are needed to serve lower-income residents. The city has outlined subsidized and affordable housing options and urged residents to join waitlists and access assistance at the Housing Authority. Reno Gazette Journal
- ➤ Property owners are reminded that the final property tax payment for this tax year is due today + check your local tax office for any specific instructions. 2NEWS
- ➤ NDOT is set to resurface and improve Pyramid Way in Sparks with new sidewalks and pedestrian-activated flashing beacons; drivers face overnight lane reductions from 7 p.m.-5 a.m. through Spring 2027 as work begins in March. 2NEWS
- ➤ RTC Washoe broke ground on the 4th Street Safety Project yesterday in west Reno. The project will narrow the road between McCarran Blvd and Keystone Ave — a measure aimed at slowing traffic and adding roundabouts plus a new multi-use path until November. 2NEWS
- ➤ The Truckee Meadows Water Authority spends $30-40 million each year on repairs, including $7-8 million on water mains that average 60 years of age. Homeowners are responsible for lines after the meter and may face repair bills of $5,000 to $10,000, so they should check their insurance or consider optional coverage. KRNV
- ➤ Crews are installing sidewalks, trees, and landscaping along the Arlington Bridges project in Washoe County — work includes a mid-March concrete pour for the south bridge and adding 32 new trees as the project is set to complete in summer. 2NEWS

- ➤ Renown Health and the University of Nevada, Reno are running the Healthy Nevada Project to screen adults for inherited conditions like Familial Hypercholesterolemia+Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome+Lynch Syndrome.
