- ➤ On Wednesday, Feb. 18, two skiers from Sacramento rescued a fellow skier from nearly 4 ft (four feet) of deep snow at Palisades Tahoe; officials said the ski patrol was not alerted to the incident. 2NEWS

- ➤ According to the Financial Times, Caesars Entertainment (merged with Reno-based Eldorado Resorts in 2020) is considering takeover offers from Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta and a management-led group, with shares up 19% Thursday. - ➤ Carnitas El Rincon, a Mexican chain with over 20 years in business, will open its first northern Nevada location soon — offering locals a new dining destination. 2NEWS

- ➤ Reno’s iconic Arch was built in 1926 for the Transcontinental Highways Exposition and updated in 1963 and 1987, marking Nevada’s history. It stands downtown today as a lasting symbol that has witnessed film premieres, festivals & community celebrations. Reno Gazette Journal

- ➤ The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office retired K9 Odin on Feb. 25 after five years of service with Deputy Evans in patrol, interdiction and SWAT tasks. Officials praised his dedication and noted his final mission is to watch over the Evans family during his well-earned retirement. KRNV
- ➤ City officials are considering an LED lighting upgrade for the Reno Arch to reduce maintenance costs - a $1.5 million proposal that will allow remote color changes for special events. The plan will be reviewed on Monday, March 2, with funds available from July 1. Reno Gazette Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Reno VA hospital will begin upgrades in fiscal Q1 2026 to improve air quality in surgical suites - it will install a new electrical system for a trash compactor and launch a management contract to support Veterans’ care.
