- ➤ Truckers on I-80 westbound experienced delays due to winter weather + intermittent closures from chain controls between the California border and Applegate on Wednesday night. Some drivers reported delays of up to two days while checking road conditions online and via radio updates. 2NEWS
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Palisades Tahoe recorded 6.3 feet of snowfall over the past three days, including 3.6 feet in the last 24 hours; the resort said it will get 4 inches on Wednesday and 19 inches on Thursday while crews complete avalanche mitigation + grooming for safe openings. 2NEWS
- ➤ Researchers at the University of Nevada, Reno, found that legacy mining mercury still pollutes the Carson River as 15 years of wood duck feather samples revealed unsafe levels that may affect local wildlife (with heavy runoff stirring sediments to reintroduce the metal). KUNR
