ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • I-80 is closed over Donner Summit due to snowy conditions with the eastbound route closed at Applegate and the westbound route closed at the Nevada state line (CHP advises drivers to carry chains) while Mt. Rose Hwy is also closed and winds gust up to 40-50 mph today.  2NEWS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tahoe ski resorts were buried in over 2 feet of snow yesterday—resorts received up to 5 feet of fresh snowfall amid the intense storm. Photos from Diamond Peak, Mt. Rose, Mammoth, and Kirkwood show heavy accumulation across the area.  Reno Gazette Journal
  • Officials advise residents to avoid I-80 today (if possible) as the ongoing storm causes dangerous road conditions.  2NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews worked on clearing priority, high use roads yesterday to ease travel across the area — they focused on keeping commuters safe.  2NEWS
  • Reno experienced its first steady snowfall Tuesday afternoon, and local police urged drivers to slow down and increase following distance on slick roads to stay safe. The department also advised checking road conditions (NDOT guidelines) before heading out.  KRNV
