  • On Sunday, a pet zebra named Ziggy escaped for 10-15 minutes in south Reno before its owner rounded it up near Huffaker Lane, following reports from residents.  2NEWS
  • Incline Village residents prepared for incoming winter storms today by stocking up on ice melt and fuel while NDOT crews pre-treated state roads with salt, sand, and brine.  2NEWS
  • The City celebrated the completion of its Canyon Creek Park path rehabilitation project on Tuesday in Northwest Reno. The project replaced 1,000 feet of asphalt to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility, funded by a ($165,000) Community Development Block Grant.  2NEWS

  • The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees reviewed its school year goals on Feb. 10, setting plans to guide upcoming academic efforts.  2NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A video from Reno Firefighters showed that in 2025 crews responded to 57,182 calls—a rise of 8.2 percent that averaged 157 responses per day. The busiest times were Friday and from May to August when downtown Station 1 handled the most calls.  2NEWS

  • The groundbreaking for the new Prospector Apartments took place Tuesday, Feb. 10 in Reno — marking the start of construction for a local apartment complex.  2NEWS
  • Reno rent prices increased nearly 6 percent on Feb. 10 as housing reports noted a surge in demand for rentals. This rise reflects a tightening market that may affect local residents seeking affordable options.  2NEWS
